Château Montus - White

$0.00

Through observation, experimentation, and a desire to enhance the terroir, Alain Brumont and his team produce the best expression of the Montus vineyards. The winery practices agroecological viticulture.

Appellation: Pacherenc du Vic Bilh

Region: Southwest France

Grape Varieties: 100% Petit Courbu

Vineyard: The vines of Petit Courbu are 30 years old and planted individually on clay and limestone terraces with pebbles.

Winemaking: After a gentle pressing of the grapes, the juice ferments at a low temperature in barrels. The wine is then aged on lees in large barrels for 1 to 2 years, depending on the vintage.

Tasting Notes: The wine showcases aromas of citrus oil, dried apricot, and spices, with a fleshy core and racy acidity. It undergoes meticulous aging in barrels and foudre, making it one of the best white wines in the Southwest region.

Food Pairing: A three to four-year-old Montus wine pairs well with fish or white meat, while a six to fifteen-year-old Montus is excellent with foie gras or Thanksgiving turkey.

Ratings:

Vintage 2015: 92/100 Wine Enthusiast

It is impressive how slowly Petit Courbu ages. Still packed with fruits, this wine is just beginning to mature, bringing in bitter almonds to broaden the fruits and acidity. The wine is now ready to drink.”  — Roger Voss
