Domaine Tinel-Blondelet - Arelles

$0.00

Arélles takes its name from a contraction of Arables and Fouinelles, two small vineyard plots planted on Kimmeridgian marl and limestone. The vines were planted in the 1970s by Fernand Blondelet, the father of current proprietor Annick Tinel-Blondelet, and are approximately 50 years old. The plots have a southwest exposure. The estate has been operated by the same winemaking family since the 16th century. Annick Tinel-Blondelet took over from her parents in 1983, becoming the family’s 12th generation of winemakers. Her daughter Marlène joined the estate in 2016. Today, the domaine covers approximately 16 hectares across Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre and Pouilly-sur-Loire.

Appellation: Pouilly-Fumé

Region: Loire Valley

Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Soil Type: Kimmeridgian marls & Calcaires de Villiers

Winemaking: The vines yield 45 hL/ha. After slow, gentle pressing and natural cold settling, the must ferments at low temperature in thermoregulated stainless-steel tanks. Pumping-over and lees stirring during fermentation enhance texture and complexity. The wine is matured on its fine lees and bottled late for natural enrichment before being sealed with a natural cork.

Tasting Notes: This wine combines a subtle yeasty character with a pleasing core of vibrancy. The wine has a fragrant and perfumed nose of baked green apples, brioche, yogurt and Anjou pear. The palate opens with a burst of dried lemon peel and lively acidity that is invigorating and that runs through the length of the taste.” From Wine Enthusiast

Food Pairing: Pair beautifully with freshly shucked oysters, grilled sea bass with lemon butter, goat cheese salad, herb-roasted chicken, and asparagus risotto.
