Lagar de Besada

$0.00

Lagar de Besada Albariño is produced in the Salnés Valley within the Rías Baixas appellation, a coastal region of Galicia renowned for fresh Atlantic-influenced white wines. The vineyards are distributed across small plots typical of the Galician “minifundio” system, planted on medium-depth granitic soils and trained using the traditional parral (arbor) vine-training system to promote air circulation and optimal ripening. Selected from younger vineyards that emphasize freshness, aromatic purity, and a vibrant maritime character.

Appellation: Rías Baixas

Grape Variety: Albariño 100%

Winemaking: manually harvested in 17 kg crates, then fully destemmed and gently pressed. After static settling of the must, fermentation takes place at low temperature in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, acidity, and the natural fruit intensity of the Albariño grape.

Tasting Notes: The young 2024 Albariño is not as reductive as many of the younger wines, despite the fact that it was only bottled a couple of months before I tasted it. It has notes of fresh herbs, white flowers and fruit and a citrus and chalky/granite mouthfeel. It has contained ripeness, and very good freshness and acidity, coming through as nicely balanced.” – From Luis Gutiérrez (Robert Parker)

Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with grilled sea bass, lemon shrimp pasta, oysters on the half shell, seafood paella, and fresh goat cheese.

Ratings:

Vintage 2024: 92 Points Wine Advocate.
