Wines Moulin Jamet - Sancerre White

Moulin Jamet - Sancerre White

$0.00

Appellation: Sancerre

Region: Loire Valley

Grape Variety: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Vineyard: Calcareous soils, mid-slope

Culture Method: Mechanical harvesting with a reasoned approach

Winemaking: Settling after pressing, slow cold fermentation.

Aging: On very fine lees in thermoregulated stainless steel vats Tasting notes: Bright, pale gold with green hues. The nose is open and complex, with floral notes (white flowers) and fruity notes (exotic fruits). The attack on the palate is supple and ample. The structure maintains a nice balance. Very good aromatic persistence on the fruit.

Food pairing: Served as an aperitif around a pot of rillettes and crustaceans, this wine will continue to complement a white fish served with a lemon cream sauce. At the end of the meal, enjoy with fresh goat cheese or slightly refined cheese.

Notes from Dan Berger's Vintage Experiences on the 2017 Moulin Jamet Sancerre ($14): This was a nice discovery. We had been buying all sorts of Sancerre’s over the years looking for aromas with typicité. We found several that were good and wrote about the best. Most were $20 to $30. This discovery at Trader Joe’s (only in California, alas) has a classic herbs-and-tea aroma.
